St. Ursula

"The proof of love is in the works. Where love exists, it works great things. But when it ceases to act, it ceases to exist."
- St. Gregory the Great (540 - 604)

Today is the feast day of St. Ursula. All that is known about Ursula is a legend that surfaced in the tenth century about a Christian princess of England who was allowed to postpone her wedding to a pagan prince for three years. During the postponement, Ursula and ten other ladies in waiting (with each being attended by a thousand ladies) went on a voyage with their final destination being Rome. On the way back, all the ladies were massacred by the Huns at Cologne in 451 because Ursula refused to marry their chief.

St. Ursula, pray for us!
