St. Vincent the Deacon

"All of us can attain to Christian virtue and holiness, no matter in what condition of life we live and no matter what our life work may be."
- St. Francis de Sales (1567 - 1622)

Today is the feast day of St. Vincent the Deacon. Vincent was born sometime during the 3rd century in Huesca, Spain. In Saragossa, Spain, Vincent became a deacon for St.Valerius until they were both arrested in Valencia during the persecution of Christians under the Roman emperor Diocletian. St. Valerius was exiled, but Vincent was severely tortured because he would not surrender the sacred books. He died around 304.

St. Vincent, pray for us!
