Saint Michael of the Saints

"Pure love...knows that only one thing is needed to please God: to do even the smallest things out of great love - love, always love."
- Saint Faustina (1905 - 1938)

Today is the feast day of Saint Michael of the Saints. Michael was born in Catalonia, Spain, on September 29, 1591. When he was 6 years old, he told his parents that he was going to be a monk. Also, he greatly imitated St. Francis of Assisi in everything he did. After his parents died, Michael served as an apprentice to a merchant, and continued to lead a holy life. In 1607, Michael became a Trinitarian friar and took the name of Michael of the Saints. Michael is known for his great devotion to the Blessed Sacrament, innocence of life, penitence, and his service to poor. Michael died on April 10, 1625, and was canonized in 1862. Many miracles were attributed to Michael after his death. In fact, a woman who had cancerous tumors on her lips and tongue was healed through Michael's intercession. This is why Michael is one of the patron saints of those with cancer.

Saint Michael of the Saints, pray for us!
