Saint Katharine Drexel

"It is a lesson we all need -- to let alone the things that do not concern us. He has other ways for others to follow Him; all do not go by the same path. It is for each of us to learn the path by which He requires us to follow Him, and to follow Him in that path."
- Saint Katharine Drexel (1858 - 1955)

Today is the feast day of Saint Katharine Drexel. Katharine was born in 1858 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, into a rather rich and pious family. Katharine was the founder of the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament for Indians and Colored. In total, she and her sisters established 50 schools for American Indians in 16 states. When she was 77, she had a heart attack and was forced to retire. She died when she was 96 in 1955, and was canonized in 2000.

Saint Katharine Drexel, pray for us!
