Pope Saint Julius

"He who trusts himself is lost. He who trusts in God can do all things."
- Saint Alphonsus Liguori (1696 - 1787)

Today is the feast day of Pope Saint Julius. Julius was elected as the successor of Pope Saint Mark in 337. Julius is known for his involvement in the Arian controversy, especially for his helping Saint Athanasius become the bishop of Alexandria once again after being opposed. Julius also built numerous basilicas and churches in Rome, and died there on April 12 in the fourth century.

Pope Saint Julius, pray for us!
