Our Lady of the Rosary

"If you say the Holy Rosary every day, with a spirit of faith and love, our Lady will make sure she leads you very far along her Son's path."
- St. Josemaria Escriva (1902 - 1975)

Today is the feast day of Our Lady of the Rosary. This feast was established by Pope St. Pius V in 1573 as a way of thanking God for victory over the Turks at Lepanto, and the feast was extended to the universal Church by Pope Clement XI in 1716. The rosary is said to of been given to St. Dominic by the Blessed Virgin Mary, and the rosary was developed to its present form in the 16th century with the Joyful, Sorrowful, and Glorious Mysteries. In 2002, Pope John Paul II added the Luminous Mysteries.

Our Lady of the Rosary, pray for us!
