"You may have to wait longer than you would like, you may have to bear privations; but, bear and forebear. Have confidence in the Providence that so far has never failed us. The way is not yet clear. Grope along slowly. Do not press matters; be patient, be trustful."
- St. Theodora Guérin (1798 - 1856)
Today is the feast day of St. Theodora Guérin. She was born in Brittany, France, in 1798 and entered the order of the Sisters of Providence in 1823 when she was 25. She was an excellent teacher and ministered the sick in France. In 1840, she and some other sisters came to establish a religious community in Saint Mary-of-the-Woods near Terre Haute, Indiana, USA. Her community opened schools in the area. She died in 1856, and was canonized in 2006.
St. Theodora Guérin, pray for us!
