St. Hyacintha of Mariscotti

"There is more value in a little study of humility and in a single act of it than in all the knowledge in the world."
- St. Teresa of Avila (1515 - 1582)

Today is the feast day of St. Hyacintha of Mariscotti. Hyacintha was born to a noble family of Viterbo, Italy, in 1585.  She was forced to enter a convent, which followed the Third Order Rule of St. Francis, because of her rebellious behavior. In the convent, she rebelled as well by having plenty to eat and drink, and also by having a very comfortable room. However, after twenty four years, she changed and became very penitential and humble. She died in 1640, and was canonized in 1807.

St. Hyacintha of Mariscotti, pray for us!
