Pope Saint Cletus

"Truly, matters in the world are in a bad state; but if you and I begin to reform ourselves, a really good beginning will have been made."
- Saint Peter of Alcantara (1499 - 1562)

Today is the feast day of Pope Saint Cletus. Cletus was the third pope, or bishop of Rome, and succeeded Pope Saint Linus. He was pope from 76 to 89. The canon of the Roman mass style him as a martyr. He was buried near Pope Saint Linus on the Vatican, and his relics still remain in that church.

Pope Saint Cletus, pray for us!
